Prevention is key for workplace health and safety. The Red Cross Preventing Disease Transmission (PDT) course is designed to help organizations meet and reinforce public health guidelines as they engage in “return to work” ramp-ups as our economy begins to open up again in our new COVID-19 reality.
Employee compliance with wearing appropriate PPE, and increasing complacency regarding infection-control measures [such as wearing face masks / physical distancing] are becoming a global workplace issue, as people begin to settle into a routine again.

This course focuses primarily on understanding how infection occurs, and how participants can use personal protective equipment and good prevention of disease transmission practices to reduce their risk of infection:
- Preventative safety techniques
- Disease transmission methods
- How to use Personal Protective Equipment correctly in the workplace – tips and tricks
- Compliance with control measures and strategies implemented at your workplace
- Personal and environmental sanitization methods
- A copy of the Red Cross Course digital pocket guide will be provided to all
The course has been developed using the latest in evidence-based science from World Health Organization, Public Health Authority of Canada, and the Center for Evidence Based Practise, with whom the International Red Cross/Red Crescent works closely.
