Tools and resources to help identify skills gaps, job vacancies and growth opportunities:
The Government of Canada has announced an investment of up to $94.5 million over five years through the Sectoral Workforce Solutions Program (SWSP) to strengthen workforce development across multiple key economic sectors. The initiative, unveiled by Minister Patty Hajdu on March 9, 2026, aims to help workers and employers adapt to rapidly changing labour‑market conditions by improving access to high‑quality, consistent labour market information (LMI).
Funding will support 14 organizations in creating sector‑specific tools, including forecast reports, dashboards, and employer toolkits that identify skills gaps, job vacancies, and growth opportunities. These resources are intended to help job seekers, businesses, and training providers make informed decisions and respond more effectively to skills shortages.
The investment spans a wide range of industries, including construction, trucking, advanced manufacturing, aerospace, tourism, forestry, agriculture, mining, energy, ICT, environmental sectors, and the bio‑economy, providing foundational data to better align labour supply with employer demand. Ultimately, the initiative is designed to support long‑term economic growth, improve job readiness, and build a more resilient, self‑sufficient workforce capable of responding to emerging challenges in Canada’s evolving economy.
