Travelling between public transport systems just got cheaper across the GTA

As of Monday, February 26th, the One Fare Program for the GTA in Ontario has launched!

Starting February 26th 2024, if riders transfer between the TTC and other GTA transit systems, they will only be charged one fare. This is great news for all transit riders, but especially good news for those who need to use multiple transit systems to get to work every day. The Ontario government estimates that the One Fare Program will save riders up to $1,600 per year.

Which transit systems does this include?

The One Fare Program applies to the TTC, GO Transit, Brampton Transit, MiWay, Durham Region Transit, York Region Transit.

What forms of payment can I use?

  • PRESTO Card
  • PRESTO in Google Wallet
  • Debit Card (physical or mobile)
  • Credit Card (physical or mobile)

How does it work?

Riders pay the highest single fare for their trip. A reduced fare will apply when riders transfer to another applicable system within two hours. When starting their journey, Riders tap their PRESTO, Debit or Credit card on the PRESTO reader on the transit vehicle or at the station gate. When transferring, riders are to use the same payment card to tap on to subsequent readers. Riders will not be charged another fare if it is within the designated timeframe (2 hours). For GO transit you will still be required to tap on and off.  When exiting your TTC-operated bus in Mississauga or York Region, you must tap your original method of payment again.

How will fare inspectors know that I have transferred?

Fare inspectors can see your tapping history when they tap your card on the reader and will be able to verify your transfers.
