Even mild dehydration can impact work performance especially during the hot summer months. Workers are encouraged to ensure they are well hydrated when working to ensure they are safe and well to maximize performance and avoid accidents. Water is still the number one way to hydrate your body but its only beneficial if you actually CONSUME it! Many of us need alternatives to plain water to ensure our body is hydrated while at work. A little bit of creativity and planning is all it takes.
The challenge of drinking Water and staying hydrated while working just got easier!
Plan: make a menu plan for the week. Try choosing foods and snacks that are high in water content that are low in fat, sugar and salt. HINT: use a menu planner app on your phone or computer to simplify your recipes and grocery shopping
Prepare: meals and snacks should be made at home to help you eat well on your shift. HINT: Freeze large batches of fresh fruit to take to work for a cold refreshing snack
Portions: plan the amount of water you need to drink and eat to keep hydrated while you work HINT: it may take a couple of days to develop the portions you need
