Our client specializes in the Plan. Design. Build. of environmentally controlled manufacturing and logistics facilities for the global food and pharmaceutical industries. Their engineering and construction teams collaborate as a single source to create practical construction solutions that meet regulatory requirements, maximize energy and production efficiencies, and deliver on clients’ expectations.
The Pre-Construction Manager oversees pre-construction activities related to financials, design, procurement, and risk management across multiple projects. Reporting to the VP of Pre-Construction, this role ensures seamless transitions from pre-construction to operations, contributing to the company’s profitability, project success, and competitive edge.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare budgets and estimates for Design-Build and Construction Management projects.
Lead CM and Design-Build pursuits, including RFP reviews, proposal preparation, client presentations, and contract negotiations.
Manage design deliverables, ensuring compliance, constructability, and timely delivery within budget.
Coordinate full-cost estimates with estimators and provide technical assistance during subcontract procurement.
Develop risk mitigation and opportunity maximization strategies, ensuring effective communication with clients and operations teams.
Train team members in risk identification, planning, and subcontract procurement strategies.
Lead securement strategies and proposals tailored to prospective clients.
Represent the company during client interviews and presentations.
Adhere to occupational health and safety regulations and company safety protocols.
Qualifications:
Degree or diploma in Construction, Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years in Pre-Construction Management, Estimating, or similar roles within Design-Build or General Contracting firms.
Proficient in estimating software (e.g., PlanSwift, ProCore) and Microsoft Office Suite.
Skilled in budgeting, detailed cost estimation, and project scope management for ICI facilities.
Familiarity with Design-Build, Construction Management, and Stipulated Sum delivery methods.
Strong client service, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
Certifications such as PQS, CEC, or Gold Seal are assets.
