Work for a fast paced production shop in central Burlington, building 900 stairs per day! You will be responsible for working in their glue press/wrapping department assisting with general labour duties. Some carpentry and hand tool experience is an asset but they are open to training and you will be partnered with a skilled labourer before working on your own. This is a full time position with opportunity to be hired on. You may be cross-trained in their different areas of the shop – LOTS of room for growth and adding to your skill sets overtime!
Woodworkers must have good hand-eye coordination to make precise cuts; math aptitude and measuring skills; physical stamina and strength is an asset. They must also be detail-oriented and have the technical skills necessary to understand and interpret drawings and manuals. In addition, the following are ideal skills for a successful candidate to have.
Knowledge of the various types of woods and veneer, glue and adhesives etc.
Ability to safely operate woodworking machines, including radial arm and band saws
A good understanding of measuring and shop drawings, written instruction and work orders
Prepare and set up machines
Knowledge of various hand air tools
Use roller to spread glue
Lift, sort and stack wood panels.
