Our client is a leading General Contracting firm providing construction project management to retail, commercial and office clients, construction & renovation of retail and office space. They have a core estimating team and are looking to bring an individual with 5 – 7 years’ of estimating experience who is looking for the next career step, to develop an estimating team and department.

Responsibilities:
– Ensure that the estimating process runs smoothly and efficiently, and client expectations are exceeded throughout the duration of the project.
– Accountable to review all details to ensure all quotes submitted are complete, accurate, and on-time capturing all project scope and trades outlined in provided bid materials.
– Review project specifications, including but not limited to RFP, drawings, insurance and bonding requirements, addendums and specifications to fully understand project scope, trades and timelines.
– Attend bid site walks to gain a full understanding of project scope and deliverables. Collect on-site data for estimates and take offs to ensure clear, detailed information comes back to the office for finalized estimates.
– Ensure that drawings and project specifications are sent to subtrades in a timely manner to ensure subs have sufficient time to provide a complete and accurate proposal to the client.
– Manage and mentor Junior Estimator, and any future members of the estimating team.
Qualifications:
– 5-7 years of experience in estimating ICI projects.
– Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex plans and specifications putting together accurate estimates.
– Strong attention to detail and accuracy while working on multiple estimating projects simultaneously.
– Ability to multi-task to manage own work, while overseeing direct report.
– Proficiency with qualifying subcontractor quotes and negotiating pricing.
– Knowledge of standard construction industry practices, processes and materials.
– Experience managing direct report(s).
– Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
– Knowledge and proficiency in PlanSwift and Microsoft Office.
– Ability to travel to job sites within the Greater Toronto Area as required to complete estimates.
