A majority of independent consultants--69 percent--say the use of a flexible workforce is a permanent change and not a temporary response to economic conditions, according to a survey released by M Squared Consulting.
The survey also found that 81 percent of independent consultants are satisfied or extremely satisfied with their career choice, and 73 percent would remain a consultant if given the choice to return to traditional, full-time employment.
In addition, the survey found 42 percent of independent consultants reported that their 2011 revenue increased over 2010. And 55 percent say their revenue will increase in 2012.
